  • How do I update my tap list?

You can always update your own tap list by visiting your bar’s page on Taplister.com. Just type the name of the beers you have on tap into the “What’s on tap?” box, and click “List it.” You can remove beers by clicking the yellow “Remove Beer” link. You’ll need a Taplister account to do this.

The best way to manage your bar’s tap list, though, is to Claim Your Bar on Taplister.com. Then you’ll have access to our Tap List Management System, that will let you manage your menus, save beers that you frequently have on tap, read the commercial descriptions from RateBeer to help educate your servers, and update your bar’s info on our site. You’ll also have access to a widget that will let you publish your beer menu on your own site or Facebook page, and buttons to link to your tap list on Taplister.com from anywhere. It’s free to claim your bar – start today.

Why should I claim my bar?

The best reason to claim your bar (which is free!) is to get access to all of Taplister’s “goodies” for your bar – a widget that lets you publish your beer menu on your own site or Facebook page and badges to link to your Taplister page from your site. You can also update the description of your bar on Taplister with your hours, happy hour info, bar features and description.

With a paid subscription to Taplister, you can lock your tap list to consumer changes, enhance your listing further, and (coming soon) get a featured search result on Taplister.com. You can also upgrade to the Taplister Digital Beer Board and turn any HDTV or 1080p digital display in your bar into a digital beer menu.

How do I list a beer?

There are two ways to list a beer via Taplister.com (on your smartphone or on a PC). Remember, you’ll need to register with Taplister in order to update tap lists.

    Via the home page:

    1. On the home page, choose the “List a beer” tab
    2. Be sure your city is correct – if not, click “Change your city”
    3. Type the beer name into the box on the left (Can’t find the beer? Try searching for it on “Find a beer” tab to make sure it’s in our system, and if not, click here)
    4. Type the bar name into the box on the right (Can’t find the bar? Try searching for it on “Find tap lists” tab to make sure it’s in our system, and if not, click here)

    Via a bar’s page:

    1. On the home page, choose the “Find tap lists” tab
    2. Type the bar name into the box on the left, and your city and state into the box on the right
    3. Click on the bar’s page on the search results
    4. Now, type the name of the beer that’s on tap into the “What’s on tap?” box (note – if you don’t see a “What’s on tap?” box, that’s because this bar owner has “locked” the tap list to consumer updates)

And finally, if you’ve claimed your bar, you can list beers via the Bar Owner Admin site.

How do I add a beer to your database?

Trying to add a beer that doesn’t appear in our search results? Well, the fastest way to fix that is to make sure that the beer exists on RateBeer.com (you’ll need an account with RateBeer to search – but it’s fast and free to create one).

If the beer is on RateBeer and not Taplister.com, please let us know. If the beer isn’t on RateBeer, either, please add it to RateBeer. It will make its way over to Taplister within a few days.

If you’ve claimed your bar on Taplister, you can add a brand-new beer via the menu editor without adding it to RateBeer first. Please access the bar owner admin and try adding the beer that way – if you still need assistance, click the “Help” link in the footer of the bar owner admin.

How much does it cost to use the system?

It’s always free to claim your bar on Taplister and start using the tap list management system. For more on our packages and pricing, click here.

How do I add a bar to your database?

Looking for a bar that isn’t found in our search results? There are two reasons why it might not be found:

    • The bar isn’t in Foursquare, our database of venues. Go to https://foursquare.com/search, and make sure – if the location isn’t in their database, you’ll see a link to Add the Place to Foursquare
    • The bar is in Foursquare, but not on Taplister. This might be because the bar is listed in Foursquare as a “restaurant,” or something else that isn’t a bar. Please let us know that you’d like to be on our site and we’ll see what we can do!

What happened to listing beers via Twitter?

The original Taplister let anyone list a beer on tap via Twitter, and even look for beers using our #ontappdx Twitter bot. It was a fun idea and worked well at the beginning, but eventually, the weakness of the system became clear – our database of beer names and breweries was inconsistent. And, for a lot of people, updating tap lists via Twitter was too confusing. So, in our new release, we’ve decided to drop the ability to update tap lists via Twitter. Instead, we’ve partnered with RateBeer – the world’s premier craft beer database – to manage the names of beers and breweries listed on our site. Now, tap lists can be updated on the web (which works on your smartphone, too) and via our app for iPhone. Just type the beer name into the “What’s on tap?” box on the bar’s page on Taplister.com (web and mobile) or use the “List a beer” feature and type the beer name and bar name.

What happened to the Android app?

We’re dropping support for Android users (for now) – but don’t freak out! Taplister.com looks awesome on your smartphone and you’ll get all the same bar search and tap list updating features that way.

How can I get more involved with Taplister in my city?

We’re working on a Taplister Ambassadors program – to learn more, please sign up for our mailing list and we’ll let you know when we are ready to launch.

Can I have a Taplister t-shirt (or sticker)?

Yep. Send a check for $25 (for a shirt – $2 for a sticker) made out to Taplister, Inc. to:

Taplister, Inc. Gimme a shirt, Kerry 1104 NW 15th Ave. Suite 400 Portland, OR 97209

Those prices include shipping in the lower 48. We’ll send you a note if we need you to cover shipping fees.
