Dogfish Head Puddin' Wine - Port Wine
The official Extreme Beer Fest 2017 Collaboration Beer brewed by BeerAdvocate (Jason & Todd Alström) + Dogfish Head (Sam Calagione & Mark Safarik) at Dogfish Brewings & Eats in August 2016.
Based on Jason Alström’s recipe for a traditional Christmas pudding, this English-style Barleywine was brewed with Maris Otter malt and a boatload of dark and dried fruits—black currants, sultanas, plums, cherries, and raisins—plus golden treacle and brown sugar to goose the ABV. It might be a Puddin’ Wine, but it’s not to be trifled with! Fermentation with a traditional English ale yeast was followed by four months of aging in freshly dumped Terra d’Oro Zinfandel Port wine barrels. The beer has notes of dark fruits and toffee with a gentle alcohol warmth.
